When sleeping under the stars does more the make your stomach growl

Have a few friends over and need to make everyone breakfast in a jiffy?

You will need:

  • A muffing pan ( bear with me )
  • A roll of dough ( you get those at any supermarket, its easier than making your own)
  • A few different toppings. Eggs, ham, mushrooms, salmon, bacon, tomato. Anything you might have left over, will work.
  • Grate some cheese
  • Herbs and spices for seasoning
Preheat your oven at 180 degrees celsius.

Grease your muffin pan. Lay the dough over and pocket each hole. You can cut the dough into squares to fit each hole if you like. Then you can make individual pies too. Put an egg in a few of the holes. Once you did that, you can pop it into a preheated oven for a few minutes, just to get the bottom of the dough cooked and give the egg a good start too. Take it out, and now the fun part starts. You can fill up the egg holes with other topping which ever you like, and the others with salmon , or bacon. Lastly top everything with good handfuls of cheese and put back in the oven on grill. Season to taste.
And Viola!!

I've found a square piece of joy, wanna taste it?

All you will need is:

  • About 60 free minutes to create
  • 1 Bar of unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 Cup of butter
  • 3 Cups of sugar (preferably icing sugar)
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 and half Cups flour
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 2 and half Cups chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven at 180 degrees celsius

Melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Chocolate can burn easily. When melted, set aside. Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla. Blend in chocolate mixture, flour and salt until just mixed. Stir in the nuts, if you want some. Pour mixture into a greased pan.

Bake for ±35 minutes. Cool and put in freezer if desired, but only if you want to.

Choosing the pooch to sit on my porch

Do yourself a favor. Well that is if you are a dog lover of course. Go check out the new flick 'The Proposal' and an old one 'As good as it gets'. Those two adorable pups have stolen many hearts. And according to the dog breeders society, boosted the demand for these expensive dogs. The reason for my indecision is simple you see. I'll attach a few pictures of the different candidates, and you tell us which one is the 'one'.

From left to right: Samoyed; Min. Schnauzer; Brussels Griffon; Cocker Spaniel; Wire Fox Terrier
I see that it must be unfair, putting up pictures of them as puppies, puppies are always cuter. I just wanted to depict the type of issue it actually is. Deciding on a 10 year friendship. Not so easy.

perfect flatbread

Met komplimente van naked chef, Jamie Oliver, het ek hierdie resep as die eerste gekies.
Nothing tastes or smells better then a freshly baked bread, especially from the fire.
So let get started

600g white flour
1 heaped teaspoon sea salt
2 heaped tablespoons of baking powder
Optional: 1 tablespoon of spice or herbs e.g.. rosemary or thyme
6 tablespoons of olive oil

Mix your flour, salt, baking powder and herbs or spices in a large bowl, using a fork. Make a well in the centre, then pour in the olive oil and about 150 ml of warm water. Use the fork to gradually bring in the flour from the edge of the bowl, and add another splash of water if you think it's too dry. Once it starts to combine, wet your hands and use them to really bring together until you have a nice ball of dough.

Dust you hands and a clean work space with flour and knead the dough with our hands until it is smooth and elastic. This will take about 5 to 10 minutes. Pop the dough back into the bowl, dust it with a bit more flour, then cover and leave to relax.

Divide your dough in 10 equal-sized balls, then lightly, oil your hands and squeeze each ball between your palms to flatten them slightly. Dust with a little flour as you go, and pat and slap the dough from the palm of one hand to the other. Turn it and twist the dough about in a circular movement as you go and keep slapping from hand to hand - each flatbread should be about 1 cm thick. You'll probably mess up a few, but practice makes perfect.

Normally the flatbreads are cooked as you're making them. You can do this on a barbeque or in a non-stick frying pan on a medium heat. Cook them for a few minutes on each side and check the underside - you want them to puff up with a nice bit of golden color. Keep them warm in a basket covered with a tea towel until you're ready to serve them.
